Telangana, the youngest state in the country, integrated FSSM into its sanitation strategies primarily because of a firm political will. The State government’s commitment towards the development of urban sanitation was fueled by the momentum created by Swachh Bharat Mission at the national level. Strengthening institutional frameworks was seen as a key component to the growth of the state’s urban sanitation value chain.
